So this weekend was quiet. Saturday we went to lunch with the in-laws and hung around. Dave went to Wisconsin Sunday for an event and the girls played outside most of the day then Em and I watched movies.

Yesterday Round 6 of the Gauntlet over at Scrapperie was due. Above is my layout for the challenge. I love love this photo of Em it's hard to make out some in the scan where it gets darker. I couldn't fix that when I was trying to get a scan of it. So here I stamped on the photo with StazOn and cut out instead of matting it on paper. I love the affect. Unfortunately I didn't make it on to Round 7 but there is a great list of designers that did you have to check them out. This contest was fun and I have to say pretty laid back compared to others all and all a very pleasant experience.

So today we are off to the Dentist for the girls and probably over to visit with my MIL since she lives near the dentist. Hope everyone enjoys their day!

Bad Bad Blogger

So I suck I realize this. I'm not sure what I've been doing but it's not been at the computer this week. Well I taught a stamping class Friday and I'm afraid I had no samples done until the last minute! So there was a lot of that!

Last Saturday round 5 of the Gauntlet was due over at Scrapperie. We were asked to make a mini album of simple things. You can see each of the pages of my album of Chicago Circa 2008 here in the gallery and the journaling etc. This was fun and I will treasure it always as a memento from our little anniversary celebration in the city. I actually made it to round 6 I was very surprised but excited. And to have something you love as a result is even better!

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there! Hope you have a FABULOUS Day!

Our Dad here is still sleeping away! No one wants to be the one to wake him on his day! HA When he gets up we're going to give him his presents then take him somewhere to eat. Maybe Super Dog he loves that place. If it's still raining maybe the Irish Pub he likes? After that well I'm not sure! We'll see what he wants to do! So here is the card I made for Dave. He loves Snoopy! Don't we all? The stamp is by Stampabilities. Papers by K&Co and BoBunny. Rubons Maya Rd. and I had to use my new Tim Holtz gears! Woo HOO! Oooh almost forgot you can't tell but the paper behind the stamped image is mirracard or silver mirrored cardstock. It blacks out when it's scanned. Have a great day everyone!

Happy Flag Day

Totally forgot to wish everyone a Happy Flag Day! Card using Odd Bird Planet Stamp Planet Cupcake. The scallopy(is that a word? it is in my world) circle is Bazzill. Papers by MME and Rub Ons American Crafts.

We're back, well we've been back just catching up!

So we had a wonderful weekend. On Friday we dropped the girls off at Paula & Marc's then headed home and packed our neighbor took us to the train station and we had a very pleasant stress free ride into the city. We checked into our hotel(I knew it was our room I could see Blick's out our window! HA) , just a block from Millennium park and relaxed in the the amazing lobby(I took a quick pick I'll share later this week) with a drink. Then we got ready for dinner and went to the Lockwood. YUMMY, and it was very romantic. We had a great time. We also had the concierge make reservations for us on the Architectural Tour the next day. In the morning we got up and went out for breakfast. I had Starbucks and Dave had 7 Eleven(pepsi and muncho's HA) which we ate in the park before heading to the boat. The tour was amazing and I have to say the river has changed so much in the last 10 years. We lucked out the weather was FANTASTIC the entire day sunny breezy and just perfect! After that we walked around the city for awhile exploring, first we went to the Tribune building and checked out all the pieces of buildings and historical sites around the world then we checked out the lobby of the Hardrock Hotel on Michigan Ave., went to see the Bean and the Waterfalls. We ate at The Gage right across from the park for lunch which was amazing. Dave got a shoe shine! I was hiding in the shade and forgot to take a pic of that. I did get a sunburn unfortunately I'm so pale(pasty) too much sun no matter what fries me! Then we did a little shopping for popcorn and art supplies. After that we caught a cab back to the train station and on to home where Randi picked us up again!

It was the most relaxing wonderful weekend. The girls had a great time. Sunday was our actual Anniversary so I made a nice dinner and we all celebrated together. We are lucky the weather held out until we headed home!

So a little catch up I have cards and projects to load but I'll try to keep it to a minimum each day since I also have pics to share. This card uses the hot air balloon and rolling hills stamps by johanna's odd bird planet. I added specks of souffle pens on the rolling hills for flowers. The stickers are Making Memories.

We're Out Of Here

So we're headed into the city tonight for our Anniversary! Monday is our 10th anniversary and we're very excited. Uncle Marc and Aunt Paula are taking the girls overnight, they are thrilled to be having a sleepover with their cousins. Of course Emily asked me why her week long sleepover was starting on a Friday and not a Sunday because Sunday is the first day of the week. Paula did you know you were taking my kids for a week????? HA Not really but it was funny anyway. So anyway I have to get back to getting my laundry done and my downstairs picked up and summer clothes out, pack etc. etc. etc.

An Owls Life

So each month Johanna challenges us to create something for the boutique. The projects vary we've altered wooden birds and dressed paper dolls. This month we were provided with photos to use in an art piece. I somehow got 4 photos and decided to use them all. I altered a Maya Road circle album with Basic Grey papers and using odd bird planet stamps I made Flo my main character she is very busy each day. Cleaning and repairing her boat. Once she is done she gets to relax with a good book and a nice sail in the cleaned up boat! I also used the little cloud, broom, bucket, feather, chair, ladder, lime-ade, and the multi sail boat.

Happy Birthday johanna's odd bird planet!

Happy Birthday justjohanna's odd bird planet!!!!!!! They are celebrating their 2 year birthday today!

This card uses my new stamps(WOO HOO) happy bloomin birthday, tiny pod leaf, medium pod leaf, and the mixed mushroom group.
Today I also started working on Father's Day cards. Lovin Al on a swing and the Moon and Stars. I colored everything with Glaze Pens.

Twinkletoes & more!

We planted some plants yesterday I use WE in a very loose sense! I showed Dave where I wanted them and he planted them. I bought them a couple weeks ago at a plant sale by the Garden Club! Wow those ladies were wanting to sell Dianne and I everything on the tables! Anyhoo I got a couple of peonies I hope survive my antics they'll bloom this year if I'm lucky! My new banner is my crab apple tree out back. I love it when it blooms but this year it bloomed right before a big storm so I had to run out and take pics real quick before the rain and wind hit! Last night I baked yet again. Big M&M cookies for Em's classmates for her Birthday. No it's not her b-day but since she has a summer one they do it the last week of school.

As promised here are some more cards made with the new odd bird planet stamps. In the first one I used the brawny strongbird, captain twinkletoes and the new please get better.

This one here uses Ellie, and the 3 stands. Thanks Ever So is not new but a cool sentiment a la Lola!
Hope everyone is having a great day! It's gloomy here we're waiting for rain! But that's ok the plants need water!

Art inspriation!

Last week in the Gauntlet over at Scrapperie we were Challenged to choose an art piece then create a layout using our art piece! The hardest part was well choosing an art piece! This is by Alphonse Mucha. The layout above uses MME 29th Street Market papers lots of doodling and all my cutters! HA Dave fixed my large Coluzzle with super glue so I got to use that thank goodness! Anyhow the Gallery is Jam Packed with amazing work + inspiration art pieces. I loved every one's choices of Art Pieces it's always interesting to see what inspires others and how they use the inspiration! The next challenge isn't due for 2 weeks it's a Mini Book! That should be Fun and Interesting! Can't wait to see what everyone does!
So it's Monday and today is the rain date for Field Days so Emily is excited. School is almost over 4 more days.... Ab's will be thrilled to have her sister home. I think???

Exciting Party Hat Day

Today is exciting, there are a new bunch of stamps over at the odd bird planet. They're fun, whimsical and versatile. As you can see the planet has derived from jusjohanna so it's the same great quality stamps just a FUN FANTASTICAL new name. Also today is the launch of the new forum at Splitcoaststampers! I Love this site and having the odd birds over here seems very natural! There will be all kinds of exciting things happening each week! Be sure to check back often for fun goings on. Here are a few of the new release stamps I'm digging the banner, pointy hats, cannon, burnin' ring and space owl. All of these are just too cool and cute! I have more to share but it would be a forever post if I did that today! Be sure to check out all of the excitement!
